We made it....sord of

Hot mess. That's about it in a nutshell. Claire and I got on our flight with no problems. We decided to hop on an earlier flight to ensure our arrival and it was a success. Claire was a dream child! However, when we arrived to Austin I found out some not so good news. My brother's house had been flooded. A pipe busted in their powder room after they left for work and water ran for about 4 hours before Jason came home to find his whole house filled with water. He stopped to grab the carseat on the way to pick us up at the airport. Can you imagine if we had come in on the later flight? He wouldn't have known about the water for 5 more hours. So long story short....my mom came to Bastrop (where they live, right outside of austin) to get Claire and I then took us to Houston to her house...after we waited for my lost luggage (it's true, it just gets better!) to arrive at 7:30pm. We made it to Houston after a very long day (can you say hot mess. 2 yr old with no nap) around midnight. My niece is with us too so it's nice to see her at least. Jason, Tana, and Cy stayed at hotel near home to deal with the mess. We will be flying back earlier than expected but that's okay. I got to meet Cy and give him kisses. Feed him. And love on him for a little bit. I am happy. Everyone's ok so that's all that really matters!

I will post some pics when I return.

Wish us luck

Claire and I are flying standby....so we need 2 seats to get on...tomorrow to Austin. I am dying to see my nephew and can wait no longer!! I have a good feeling I'll be holding him tomorrow evening and giving big squeezes to my niece as well. Let's just pray we don't end up on the news for getting kicked off said plane after scoring ourselves some seats! lol!
Okay, so this is a pretty lousy picture of the 3 of us. No offense to Uncle Gordon who took it. His subjects aren't wearing makeup and have colds with bags under their bags. But hey, we have a pic.

Is the pope mobile in town or is that just Claire with a Victoria Secret bag on her head???

Rain in AZ!! Those boots and umbrella finally got some use!

Ah, springtime

February starts spring in AZ. It's the most beautiful time of year! =) Time to be outdoors and enjoy the scenery before the heat rolls in. It makes me want to eat outside and sip a nice crisp white wine and relax. Claire and I enjoyed an outing to the mall with our buddies this morning. We also enjoyed an Italian soda. Oh my goodness....if you have never had one you must try it. It's club soda, raspberry syrup (or any flavor you like but raspberry is most commonly used), and milk. It's devine. This place at the mall, Leonidas, sells them. Claire agrees they are the best.

Happy Valentine's Day

I love this and I think it encompasses what I feel this Valentine's Day. One thing about having a blog is that it often, if not always, focuses on the good in life. It's a series of snapshots and happy moments but it's only a glimpse into our lives and not the full scope. Our everyday life is messy and at times even complicated. We are a family though for better or worse. It's nice to take a day to reflect on the love and the good times.

Happy Valentine's Day weekend to all my loved ones.

Cox family down

The Coxes are down with a cold but we are still hanging tough!! We finally got out of the house yesterday afternoon and the fresh air made us both feel better. As you can see in this pic, this is the face of sick. She was hacking up a lung after this but she's much happier now! Sadly, Eric came down with the cold in the latter part of the weekend and now he's got a bad back and the icks. Poor Daddy. Overall, we are on the up and up. Claire is back at school today and I am on the mend!

Hope all our buds are having a good week so far!! =)

She doesn't get it from me

Claire LOVES birds. I can tell you right now she did not get it from me! She loves to talk about the birds as we drive around and watch them in the backyard. She is seriously a fan. We gave her 2 toilet paper holders to make her binoculars and we look for birds every morning. She yells out the window...."WAKE UP BIRDIES!! TWEEEEET!!!". Her Grandma and Uncle Gordon (who are both bird admirers) are both so proud!

The red rain boots are another story. Claire loves this book called Gossie. It is a little yellow duck who loves to wear her bright red boots every day. She got the book last year from her Tia at Easter but showed no interest in the book until about a month ago. She sleeps with it now! Tia felt that Claire must have
red rain boots too so she got her a pair with a matching umbrella. It's too cute. Now we will have to run the water house and make it rain outside!

In great news, we got Claire's school stuff all squared away and we didn't even have to wait in line! Since she isn't switching classes they just let us pay and reserve her spot! YAH!

Train ridin!

We took Claire to the park Sunday. It was beautiful outside. We even got to ride the little train around the park. Super fun. Claire LOVED the train and of course feeding the ducks!

Not much new and exciting here. Just preparing to re-enroll Claire in preschool for next school year this Friday. I am so nervous because you have stand in line to get your day/time slot back for the next year. All current students get to enroll first but other kids may want her class time next year. UGH! Who knew preschool could be so dramatic. The registration starts at 8am and people line up starting at 6am!!!!!!!!!!!! Insanity if you ask me but I'll do my best. Wish us luck!
