Phoenix zoo

Today we went to the Phoenix zoo. Claire wasn't sure about the petting zoo at first. She gave me the big pouty lip and her eyes started to well up. I wasn't really sure what upset her since the first goat she saw was pretty much as still as a statue (see above pic). She warmed up to the goats after a few minutes then she ran around pointing at them all and saying something (I have no idea what) to each of them. I think she was naming them. She called one "Keety" and one "Daddy" that I heard clearly. Apparently there was no Mama goat! :) In the video it almost sounds like she calls one "Grandma". Who knows these days...she is a babbling machine!

For Grandma

I am sure it delights you all to no end to see my child jumping on a trampoline but this one is for Grandma. I can't email these videos because they are too huge and I don't know how to shrink them quite yet. Grandma loves to see Claire in action! Claire is trying to jump off the ground these days at home and it seems to have made her jump funny this week on the trampoline. She was all over the place!

Video happy

Yes, I am video happy these days but I can't help myself. Claire has just been too fun not to capture on video! I am contemplating keeping this hibiscus plant on our patio. I was setting it up and giving it a look then Claire started pouring rocks into the planter. After about 2 or 3 times of scooping and pouring her rocks she just started laughing. It was cracking me up so I had to video this laugh.

The weekend

We had a great weekend. I had some much needed girl's time Friday night with my mom friends. We went to a nail salon and had some pampering, tequila, and karaoke! Yes, karaoke! Yours truly somehow found the mic in her hand and knew the words to "Bust a Move"! NICE! I felt like I had an out of body experience when I woke up the next day...was I really singing karaoke at a nail salon on a Friday night?! Yep and I had so much fun!

Eric, Claire, and I spent a lot of time outside too. The weather is just perfect right now. We have really been enjoying our new yard. It's awesome to be able to play at home! Claire especially loves being outside and is always pointing out the planes that fly over the house and yelling "plane". I especially love when she says bye to the plane. She is never quiet when saying bye. She wants to make sure the plane hears her I guess.
Some pics of Claire playing outside. In the bottom picture she is enjoying a mouth full of turkey bacon!

USA Youth Gym #2

Claire and I went back to the USA Youth Gym today. She had a great time. She really likes jumping on the trampoline. Such a hoot. Sadly my camera cut the video off because it was maxed out. I asked her if she was jumping and she whispers "yah". Then I think she is saying "jump, jump,jump...".

Backyard shots

This was pretty much our weekend. We had a few plants and citrus trees planted on Friday. We also went and picked up some stepping stones to complete our yard. Now the plants and trees just have to do their part and fill in! We can't wait to have lemons and limes for our beers and cooking! Claire is still loving her sandbox. She hasn't used the table yet but she loves it. She always says "oh wow" when she sees it. Too funny!

That's what is new at the Cox household. We cooked dinner at home for Valentine's Day and just hung out with our baby girl. Life is good!

Santa Fe Pic

YAH!! I have a Santa Fe picture of Kaylan and I that proves we were really together on this trip. All the other photos we took were of scenery or the fires we would build in our hotel room. I was pretty obssessed with the fireplace!

Just a usual Monday over here for Claire and I. We went to Barnes and Noble which is our regular Monday morning hot spot. She met up with her buddy Kendal and they played with the train set in the kids area. Claire has a bad habit of grabbing the books off the shelves and rearranging things so I have keep an eye on her...or atleast where the books go back!

Open Gym Day

Claire loved the open gym at USA Youth Fitness Center today! I thought she would be too little still to enjoy gymnastic equipment but I was wrong. She had a blast. She ran her little legs off. We came home and she fell asleep in my lap. That hasn't happened in like 5 months!

Sandbox

Just as we thought....Claire loves her sandbox. She had her shovel ready to go. Of course, her favorite sandbox toys were her cup and bowl from inside. The sand is quite dusty and messy but she loved it so we did too. We figured she would throw some sand overboard into the yard and she did. All part of the fun I guess. We will have to work on keeping the sand in the box. As much as I don't want the weather to warm up yet it will be nice when she can play in the sand without pants on! Who goes to the beach in pants?

Last week

Grandma came to visit last week and sadly all I got was this one crappy picture. It's not bad of mom but you just can't get Claire to sit still for a picture anymore. She is such a busy girl! We went to a birthday party the day after Grandma left and Claire had a blast. Note the picture of her asleep in the car. She hasn't fallen asleep in the car in forever. We of course watched the Super Bowl and we were so sad to see our Cardinals lose but it was an awesome game. Eric bought steaks, salad, and potatoes. It was more romantic that our wedding anniversary. LOL! I rarely see him this giddy or talkative. He is a happy guy normally but this was different. I finally told him I was only hearing every other word at best because he was talking more than I have heard in the past 3 years of our marriage. He gave me every play by play, rule, and thought about the game! So funny.

I feel like I peaked out in January....went on a trip, hung with Eric's family, saw my best friend, Mom came to visit...what will the rest of 2009 hold for us? It has been a great start so far. Right now we are getting a few things for Claire to enjoy in the backyard while the weather is still nice out here. We got a sandbox and Eric is filling it up tonight with sand. I really think Claire is going to dig it (no pun intended!).
