4 months

4 months old already!!!
12lbs 14oz
25 1/4 inches

Boy, time just flies!! Our big girl is growing....not much but growing. Big sis was 16lbs at her 4month checkup so this is quite the difference. Her reflux still sucks the big one and she even has a little ear infection from fluids getting into her ears from the reflux. :( Big boo on that. She's okay though and we had no idea anything was really wrong with her. I say "really" because about a week ago we did notice she was upset after pulling on her ear but didn't think a whole lot of it. Being the awesome parents we are we did nothing and all this time she's had an ear infection in her outer ear. PARENTS OF THE YEAR!!! Never mind the chunk of ear wax that came out of her ear when the doc stuck the little ear dojobbie thing in her ear to check it out. I figure we can use the wax to make our awards with and have them engraved with best parents ever. Ah, second baby syndrome. Well, this explains the unexplained crying last week. Growth spurt, ear infection? I dunno. She is overall so happy and so easy you would never know!

We did try some cereal and fruit this past weekend and she loved it! We are going to hold off on solids though because the doc thinks it could make her reflux worse by producing more acid to break down the foods. I was ready to start feeding her solids but I guess we'll hold off at least another month. Cereal is a go though! She loves cereal already!!

Claire is good too. Summer camping still 2x's a week! She loves it! She LOVES her baby sister....maybe too much. My eye twitches when she plays with her because it stresses me out how rough she is with her. She won't touch someone else's baby but her sister is up for grabs...literally!

Tummy time

Tummy time on top of mom (she's grabbing my shirt)

Just being cute!

Tummy time with big sister.
OH MY DROOL!!! This girl is a drooler for sure. Can you see how red her hair is?? Always shocks me. It's beautiful. She is rolling over now too!!! OMG....here we go. Time will just start to fly now.

Not much going on. Just summer time stuff. Summer camp, swim lessons, and playing with friends. I am liking this summer so far!! =) Not pregnant in the heat!

Great Grandma trip

The girls and I drove to Great Grandma's house in Bowie, AZ (pretty much a ghost town) for a couple of days. It was a last minute trip to see my grandma and it was so nice for her to finally meet Paige. Her husband, Grandpa Ernie, passed away a few months ago and she hasn't been able to come here to meet Paige yet. So we went there! 3.5 hour drive and it went really well. No major reflux issues and Claire did great watching movies and having snacks. It was our little adventure just us girls. We left Daddy at home. Sometimes it's good to just do your own thing plus he'd be so bored in Bowie. My aunt lives there too so it really was just us girls! Grandma and I took the girls to church (Claire was baptized there and Paige will be too) and they did pretty good. Paige would put down her bottom lip big time when the organ was being played. Too loud! Claire got bored and luckily it was communion day so we went to the front of the church and had what she thought was a little snack with juice! LOL! She wanted seconds but I had to tell her that we are only allowed one body of Christ (bread) and one blood of Christ (which she gave me a funny look about). She was kind of loud with her big...YUMMMM! that was gooood!!! Reverent we were not!

Good times!! Now I am taking the girls alone to Texas for 10 days. Our girl trip next adventure!!

The pendulum

I remember reading in baby/toddler books that kiddos go through short phases where they like mommy better or sometimes they prefer daddy. In our house the pendulum swung Daddy's way....oh....about 3 years ago and it has yet to swing back my direction. Claire and I have our fun moments of course but when she was a baby I was the only one that could make her laugh. Now, she is a Daddy's girl. The two of them could just bathe in their eternal happiness all day together.

Now there is Paige. She is mine. All mine! I am a bit of a baby hoarder when it comes to her. However, the other day I left Paige alone with Daddy while I took Claire swimming. Eric has never called me asking for help (never ever in 3.5yrs) but after a few hours of being gone Paigers got tired and fussy. She cried and screamed (plus her reflux is very bad right now). He didn't know what to do anymore. Luckily, we needed to pack up and head home so Claire and I went to rescue Dad and Paige. She was STILL crying when I got home but when she saw me she smiled and cried and smiled and hyperventilated for 20 more minutes out of exhaustion. She fell asleep in my arms. I have to say it was nice to be the "hero" for a change. Claire even wanted me to read her a book and tuck her in instead of Daddy. Mommy was the big winner. I don't want to not be able to leave the house because Paige only wants me but I know this isn't true because Eric has watched both girls several times alone. She just didn't feel good and he didn't have the right touch (he told me later he was walking her around upright over his shoulder and telling me how tired she was...hello, do you sleep standing up. just sayin'. oh dads!). It was still nice though to have the pendulum swing back my way if only for a minute.

The next morning Claire was back to being a Daddy's girl and barely looked at me over breakfast. Paige, well, she's still my girl but once she gets a real taste of how fun her daddy is then I may have a run for my money. Claire says Paige is "her girl" so maybe the pendulum has a new swing!
